The conference looks back at the challenges that were taken up and the leap forward in the quality of the projects. A number of cases are described, and in particular the role of the concept funding in the process of preparing an urban project.
The various aspects of successful urban renovation projects are considered. In addition to a good quality design, a town must establish a process of participation, a public-private and/or public-public partnership which works, take up the role of controlling the process and set up the structure and organization of the project.
The conference concludes with the presentation of ‘Framing urban renewal in Flanders’.
